Overview

Located in the heart of Johor Bahru at Kim Teng Park, Nasi Kandar Haji Sait stands as a beacon for lovers of authentic Malaysian cuisine. This restaurant masterfully delivers the rich, layered flavors that define nasi kandar—a beloved dish known for its fragrant rice accompanied by an array of robust curries and sides. The ambiance is unpretentious yet inviting, perfectly matching the traditional feel of the food it serves. Whether you are a local or a traveler seeking genuine Malaysian tastes, this spot provides a deeply satisfying experience.

One of the defining traits of Nasi Kandar Haji Sait is its focus on complementing the hearty mains with thoughtfully curated beverages. Freshly squeezed fruit juices like orange and apple offer a refreshing counterbalance to the spicy and aromatic flavors, while the Indian-spiced masala tea provides a warm, comforting finish to your meal.

The menu also excels in offering traditional bread options like tandoori naan and chapati, each prepared with skill—bringing out authentic textures and flavors. The naan, buttery and seared in a clay oven, pairs beautifully with richly spiced gravies. Cheese-stuffed chapatis and tandoori chicken marinated in yogurt and spices showcase the kitchen’s flair for balancing classic techniques with bold tastes.

For those seeking something indulgent, the murtabak selection—whether filled with chicken, mutton, or beef—is a standout. The pan-fried stuffed bread combines savory meats, eggs, cheese, and aromatic spices in perfect harmony, making it an irresistible choice for both casual diners and food connoisseurs.

The space caters well to a diverse audience, from families eager for a fulfilling meal to individuals who appreciate the layers of culture embedded in every dish. The location at Jalan Storey makes it an accessible destination for anyone in Johor Bahru craving an authentic culinary journey through Malaysia’s rich heritage. Overall, Nasi Kandar Haji Sait offers a genuine taste experience grounded in tradition, executed with care and freshness that invites repeated visits.

The bryani rice is sooooo good! Will go back again! The bryani is cheap, whether mutton or chicken. But if order extra dishes, I don't think it is cheap but still alright. Please forgo Fish egg & sotong. We tried a few dishes. I like the mutton, fried chicken, chicken (photos), and the ladies fingers. The set is cheap & worth. Try it if you like bryani.
